Inspired by Chris Marker’s La Jette, the original intention was for DSS to have stills of the city as part of the fabric of the film.  The stills were going to be used as a way to cover and present the diversity of the neighborhoods and communities that comprise the island of Manhattan, while also conveying a sense of journey.  However, due to the constraints and style of this short film, the idea eventually had to be abandoned.  These hundred or so photos were edited down from over two thousand stills that were taken.  Although not used for the short, I still believe that many of these images are worth sharing.  The shots still capture the uniqueness of the urban jungle.
